I figured I’d post and update to my previous rage post after I was getting beat to shit in StarCraft 2.  I’m actually getting better in the game.  I normally play 2 vs 2 with my cousin on the weekends and when we first started we were just getting pummeled.  Every game, we saw some new strategy that just threw us for a loop.

I think today we finally took the next step in playing.  We played 4 games today and we had a 3-1 record in the end.  We lost the first game, but it wasn’t an easy loss…we played for 45 minutes and kept exchanging attacks with our opponents.  In the end, they just had more resources and were able to overpower us with units.  All-in-all, I was happy with the loss.  Typically, our first game is a warm-up throw away game and we fought pretty well.

The next three games were, obviously, 3 wins in a row.  I don’t think we had 2 wins in a row in the past 2 months, so we are actually very excited about how well we played.  Plus, these were real good games.  Opponents that knew the game, knew the units…and had a strategy.   We were able to counter and fight them for the win.

One of the biggest things we changed in the last couple of weeks to help us, was my cousin changing from Protoss to Zerg.  Protoss is just too mineral hungry and slow.  I know some people are very good at rushing them, but honestly, it’s not our quick game that’s the problem…it’s if the game gets too long.  My cousin runs out of minerals…can’t expand…can’t build fast enough if something bad happened, etc.  Maybe in a FFA game, you can make it work, but when you are in a team, it’s just very tedious.  Since switching to Zerg…my cousin can keep his resources up, units flowing, and we complement each other extremely well.

Pretty much, I just roll with Vikings, and I can get them up and running to the point where they destroy anything and provide a great offense and defense when we need it.  We only had one problem in our last game against a Terran player.  He made like 75 marines.  They ripped apart my Vikings.  My cousin popped 4 Ultralisks…took care of all the marines…we rolled on after that.

Commander Harris from the war room, signing off…
