E3 2011 is practically upon us and I just wanted to talk about some of the things I’m looking forward to. I guess you can call this a slight preview of E3 2011, but I’m not going to cover everything, just the things I’ve got my eyes on.
Project Café/Wii 2/WiiHD or whatever you want to call it. There have been tons of rumors going around about what Project Café will be. Will it just be a Nintendo Wii with HD graphics? Doubtful. It’ll have HD graphics, no doubt, but this is Nintendo we are talking about here. What will they add to the Wiimote? How will they change how we play games? Will they include some sort of camera akin to the Kinect?
NGP/PSP2/PS Vita – Hopefully, Sony gives us all the information about their upcoming handheld. Release date and more importantly, its price. I guess it’ll be nice to know the real name as well. Will it actually be called the PS Vita? We know that UMD is out, so what media will Sony be using for games? Have any of the specs changed? I’ve heard some rumors that they will be making some slight cuts in the hardware in order to keep the price down.
From a game perspective, I really want to see if BioWare announces a release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic. I haven’t been playing MMOs lately as I just don’t have the time, so I haven’t been following this game at all. I’m going into it completely in the dark. I’m guessing that they’ll release it late in September.
Speaking of release dates, we should also hear more about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and hopefully get a release date. This will probably be one of the last big titles that Nintendo puts out for Nintendo Wii.
On the Nintendo 3DS front, I’m really curious to see Super Mario 3DS. Is raccoon Mario coming back? Pretty excited to see another big handheld Mario game.
Moving on to Microsoft…we’ll probably see TONS of Gears of War coverage. I’m sure we’ll also see a huge focus on upcoming Kinect games. Might even get some information on a rumored Halo: Combat Evolved remake for 360 since this November is the 10th anniversary of the release of Halo.
Oh….and I want to see tons of information on Battlefield 3. Forget Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield is my game. Can’t wait!
