I know Duke Nukem is all the rage and getting all the attention right now.  I completely understand that Duke Nukem Forever has been in development since Jesus was in diapers and its release next year is a huge deal.  However…let’s not forget the game that came out a year after Duke Nukem 3D…Shadow Warrior.

Shadow Warrior was pretty much like Duke Nukem 3D, except instead of playing Duke Nukem, you played as Lo Wang (eh..eh…get it?), a ninja.  As a side note, there was an expansion to Shadow Warrior called Wanton Destruction which featured Lo Wang’s brother as Hung Lo as the final boss.  Sure…the game features slightly crass and somewhat Asian “racist” stereotypes…but that’s part of the fun.

And the multiplayer?  I know I played tons and tons of Duke Nukem 3D online with my friends (yeah, I used Kali.net…remember that?), but I also played tons of Shadow Warrior against my friends.  The game had actually nukes….remember hearing the countdown until it was ready?  Or what about sticky bombs that would stick to your opponent and beep for like 5 seconds and then explode?  Classic!

Shadow Warrior is still playable today if you have a copy of the game with the use of DOSBox.  You can even find the expansions for the game which weren’t even officially released.

So 3D Realms, I know you are now NOT busy working on Duke Nukem Forever, how about you start working on Shadow Warrior sequel that we can see released in 2020?
