While walking through Manhattan today on my way to the Nintendo World Store and coming from Clown School (Wife and I will be in Macy's Day Parade), I accidentally (read: purposely) dragged my wife into an AT&T store since I wanted to see a Windows 7 phone. I saw, I believe, the HTC Surround and the Samsung Focus. Please keep in mind that this is not a review of either the phone or of Windows 7 just my thoughts of what I briefly saw today.
I also want to say that when I first saw videos of the Windows 7 Phone OS, I did say that this is probably only phone to pull me away from my Apple iPhone. Unfortunately after today I can't say that.
I probably played with the phone for 5 minutes each, both running Windows 7, and while it was nice, it was different there is just something that wasn't right. Don't get me wrong, it was smooth, no jitters or hangups on either phone but the OS just seemed like it needed more. Perhaps it was too simple? Perhaps the color scheme? I don't know. Maybe I am too used to my iPhone. One thing that I noticed is that the OS is too narrow for large screens. Feels like it doesn't utilize the entire screen on the home screen.
Unfortunately I was unable to really try anything like Internet Explorer or Xbox Live and I would love to get more time with the phone, but as of right now... eh it's ok.
