I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again I hate cases on my iPhone. I love the iPhone just the way it is, especially my iPhone 4. On top of that I’ve always enjoyed the battery life the iPhone 4 offered so you can imagine what I’ll have to say about a case that has a built in battery. I absolutely loved the mophie juice pack air for the iPhone 4. mophie has shown me why cases and batteries have met and created this fantastic case.

As you already know the iPhone 4 is a great looking thin phone. No doubt people that own the iPhone 4 want to keep it as thin and light weight as possible. mophie was able to design a case that not only extended the battery life by 100% but protects the iPhone and enhances audio quality. Amazing!

There is no way of getting around adding bulk to the iPhone if the case has a battery, it’s just not possible. After putting my iPhone 4 into the juice pack air I didn’t think I’d get used to it but in reality I did within hours. The only thing I didn’t like about the juice pack air is how the buttons were all recessed to the point where you had to stick your finger tip into the holes to use them. Other than that the iPhone 4 is very well protected and the headphone port is wide open for any type of headphones you’d like to use. Also the camera and flash are not blocked at all and doesn’t impede on photo quality. The dock connector is not open and is actually used by the case to provide juice at the flip of a switch on the case. The good news is that you can still charge and sync via the included USB cable and not take the case off the iPhone. What’s also great is that you CAN take the case off and charge the iPhone and case separately to reduce your charge times, since both would be charging at the same time.

The juice pack air slips on and off with ease which at first seemed too easy but through my trial time I never had a problem where the case would open erroneously and in fact I found it to be a feature that the iPhone can be easily taken out to enable charging of the case and iPhone separately.

The lithium polymer battery included nearly doubles the time you can use your iPhone 4 which before now I never realized I needed. No longer do I need to charge mid-day. At night, I usually charged the juice pack air and left my iPhone off the charger. Even with extreme use it was very difficult to drain both the iPhone and this mophie case. mophie also included a 4-LED battery indicator at the bottom (where the dock connector normally would be) to show how much battery life is left and also doubles as a meter to show how much time is needed to fully charge the juice pack air. If you decide to charge the iPhone 4 with the case, the iPhone 4 will charge before the case does.

A nice bonus feature was that since the case plugs into the dock connector on the bottom of the iPhone they needed to redirect the speakers and microphone to the front of the iPhone. This greatly increased the sound quality and volume since it was being directed to the front and not out the bottom.

Overall great case, I am not sure how I will ever survive without a battery case again! Thanks mophie!
