There are a ton of tower defence games available for the PC, iPhone, and iPad but none as polished and as much fun as PopCap’s Plants vs Zombies HD.
What is Plants vs Zombies? Since PvZ first came out and was all the rage, I asked the same question. The point of PvZ is to defend your house against a zombie horde using various plants so they don’t enter your home and eat your brain. There are a total of 5 levels, Backyard (2 levels day and night), Pool (Day/Night with fog), and Roof with each of these levels creating a whole new scenario with new types of zombies to defend against. Unlike other tower defense games, the zombies walk in a straight line and don’t curve around obstacles through out the level.
There are 26 different Zombies in PvZ. None of them are scary and are more cartoon like zombies so no worries about the kids being scared or having nightmares. Each one of these zombies are laughable and will leave you curious as to what could the next zombie possibly be. Every zombie is different and all of them have their own special characteristics and are unlocked as you further progress through the game. Some of the zombies included are the Newspaper Zombie, who charges when you knock his paper out of his hands, the Dancing Zombie that summons other zombies and dances to music like Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and the Zombie Bobsled Team which ride a bobsled onto your lawn but not before the Zomboni Zombie who needs to lay down the ice for the Bobsled.
The soundtrack to PvZ is great! I have had some of the music stuck in my head! Sound effects which include zombie grunts and groans, all sound genuine and never detract from the immersive feeling of PvZ. Graphically it’s great. Animations are clear, crisp without jerky movements. On the iPad the games graphics and color just pops. PvZ HD feels like it was created for the iPad and wasn’t ported. A game like PvZ fits in on the iPad with it’s touch display. I’ve played Plants vs Zombie on my PC and love it, but using the iPad gives PvZ another layer of fun especially since you can use more than one finger. | < Prev | Next > |
