Stronghold is one of my favorite games.  For some reason, the sequels to the game really didn't capture the feeling of Stronghold 1.  I'm really curious how Stronghold 3 will turn out and if this brand new Stronghold 3 interview is any indication, it appears Firefly Studios has realized what worked with Stronghold 1 and what didn't work with its sequels.

What were the main goals of the dev team for Stronghold 3?

Our main goal is to recapture the spirit of stronghold 1 but in a much stronger graphical engine that allows us to add in new game elements like night time sieges and proper physics for the first time and also to make the whole thing look much stronger and prettier.

What can you tell us about some of the new sim features that will be added in the game?

We are trying not to over complicate matters this time (as some fans have suggested we did in 2). So this time its all about simplicity. We are keeping honour for example - but now all honour goods go straight to the keep and can be spent more simply. A push of a button will for example, upgrade the keep, which has both military and sim benefits. Another elegant but straightforward idea is with houses which look bigger and offer more beds, the closer you build them to the keep. These of the kinds of tweaks we are making to our core gameplay.
