This can either be incredibly awesome or incredibly bad. I've been a huge fan of Myst since it came out and I played it for the first time. I've been actually wanting to see another game come out soon, but looks like we can look forward to a Myst feature film in the future. Here is what Variety has learned about the project:
Producers assert that the mythology outlined in the novels provides a firm narrative foundation for the feature adaptation.
"Our aim with this project is to stretch the genres it operates within, much like the source material did," Vanderbosch said. "It is such an innovative property and the best service we can do to it is to maintain that spirit. By utilizing the novels as our primary source, we have the opportunity to offer audiences the essence of Myst without being limited only to the famous island of the first game."
Roserock's Cory Lanier and Gran Via's Tom Williams will oversee development.
The Myst novels are outstanding and should provide some amazing source material for a movie. Hopefully this kick starts the Myst series of games again.
We'll have more on this story as it breaks, but in the meantime...what do you think about a Myst movie?
