Mario Kart has been around for years, and will is being retooled and adapted for the Nintendo 3DS. This cornerstone in the collection of Nintendo produced titles is certainly deserving of this, and the millions of fans will surely enjoy playing this in 3D.
This is more than a simple remake for the 3DS though. In actuality, Mario Kart 3DS is a wholy original game, bringing new courses, new customizable karts and new abilities attached to those karts. Now, players will have the ability to go under water and fly through the air as they take on these new courses and complete against both the AI and human competitors.
As with the prior Wii edition, multiplayer competition is supported. With the 3DS, players can connect locally to other 3DS devices and hold a local match, or connect via broadband to complete in a globe-wide race.
Anticipate that Mario Kart 3DS will make use of both the traditional control scheme, using the analog and/or d-pad controller, but also a motion control scheme, given the 3DS's built in motion control abilities. No official word that we have on this, but it would seem a natural decision to give players both of these options.
