Star Fox was one of the titles on many peoples short lists of best Nintendo games of all time, (my short list included,) and there is a lot of excitement about the re-release of what many people consider to be one of the most innovating games of its time, especially in the 3D-graphics rendering department. That being considered, there is growing anticipation for the 3DS adaptation of this game.
SF64 will of course make use of the dual screen display, which is an adaptation for this otherwise largely untampered with remake, utilizing the top screen for gameplay display and the lower for character and dialogue display, neither of which this title was ever short of. In addition, the 3DS adaptation offers two control options using the original control scheme, but also utilizing the 3DS's motion control capabilities in order to give the user the option to fly their craft in this increasingly familiar option.
You'll see the familiar wingmen Peppy, Slippy and Falco, and what you will also see in this updated version is a co-op multiplayer mode which allows up to 4 people to connect via local wireless, and offers new power-ups and weapons in the multiplayer mode. Not only can you play together, but thanks to the built in user facing camera, the 3DS will also capture video of the player and live stream it to the other devices displays during multiplayer action.
Needless to say, there is much excitement at E3 over this forthcoming title (it's due out on 9/11/11 by the way) and I am, for one, amongst the excited. Retail price is announced to be $39.99. That seems fair. Take a look at these newly released screenshots. Too bad they aren't stereoscopic.
