Gran Turismo 5 is finally out and Polyphony Digital has already released its third update on December 7th. President of Polyphony Digital, Kazunori Yamauchi has said they aren't done yet and would like to have an update once a month. What will these updates include? Who knows. Will this really happen? Yamauchi wouldn't commit.

Yamauchi did state that the update coming at the end of December is going to be a big one with things like the GT Academy, starting with online time trial rankings for the Americas and an online tournament mode called SLS Challenge for European based players where the winner will receive an actual Mercedes SLS AMG. Guess where I am moving too?

Famitsu also asked Yamauchi if they were planning on redoing the low fidelity "standard car" models as higher quality "premium car models, which Yamauchi confirmed that they do plan on doing. However it was left unknown if these "premium cars" are going to cost us any money or if they will be included as a free update. Yamauchi also didn't mention any type of time frame.

At least we know that Polyphony Digital is not done with Gran Turismo 5 and that they plan on expanding the game with updates either paid, free or both.
