File this under heavy rumor and the only reason I post it is because it touches a nerve I have with the PS3. I nerve I've written about a couple times before.
Supposedly, the meeting minutes from a meeting between Sega and SCEA was leaked to the Sega press FTP site. Who cares, right? Well...the meeting minutes had some confidential information about SCEA's future plans for the PlayStation 3. Some of the juicy bits:
Motion Controller Spring 2010 launch (March in JP) No bundle/pricing details yet, should come Sept 1 Plan on selling 4-5MM units WW SCEA agreed to provide a list of Sega IP that would work well with the motion controller, Virtua Tennis was an example Motion Controller support allows easy way to differentiate PS3 SKU Other differentiation opportunities include PSP/PS3 interoperability – think of features that would make users want to buy both PS3 and PSP SKUs.
PS2 emulator for PS3 (confidential) SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN (GTA Vice City/Sonic/etc)
Again, this is all a rumor, but I would be willing to bet that this is legit. It makes sense that SCEA would want to start selling PS2 titles on PSN. Why close off a huge market of games that are ready to go for the PS3? Answer....you don't. No word on when we would see the emulator...here's hoping it would be here next year....maybe the spring update? Hint hint Sony....
