So I have spent too much money within seven days... 2 iPhone 3GSs and and now the new Wii Sports Resort and another Wii Motion Plus accessory.  And nevermind the money I spent on an anniversary gift for my wife.  So far all three items have been well worth the money.  On to the topic at hand.. Wii Sports Resort.

A huge improvement for the original Wii Sports, which seems more and more like a tech demo than an actual game, even though I very much like Wii Sports and still play it today (baseball, not in Resorts btw). With the included accessory, Wii Motion Plus, every rotation, spin, flick is perfectly mapped to your Mii character both with accuracy and speed.  Even though I have played a lot of Wii Sports Resort the last day and a half, I haven't really played all the games and unlocked all the options but here is my short mini review on each of the games...

SWORDPLAY - Lot's of fun!  Great to be able to wield your Wiimote as a sword and see your actions perfectly portrayed on the screen.  VS is fun, but other party can swing their arms crazily and win.  Speed slicing is great!

WAKEBOARDING - Another game where the Motion Plus really shows off.  Very fun, graphics are a pleasure and even though your racing against the clock to get as much stunt points as possible, there is something relaxing about standing on a board and you rip around the island.

FRISBEE - This was the first game that I tried, and was sold on the Motion Plus.  Lot's of fun, felt like I was really throwing a frisbee.  Dog is cute too.

ARCHERY - My favorite thus far.  Moving targets, wind, distance, feels like I am really using a bow.

BASKETBALL - The jury is still out on this one.  Has the potential to be really fun but haven't been able to sink a shot.  Basically in this game you take shorts all around the line as if playing Horse.

TABLE TENNIS - MUCH better than Wii Play's version of table tennis.  You can finally add spinto the ball, hit it up or hit it down.  Would have liked to seen an update to Wii Sports Tennis though.

GOLF - Another title where the jury is still out.  I haven't been able to get it right just yet.  Nice addition was the added bonus of the old courses from Wii Sports.

BOWLING - More of the same we are used to from the older Sports title but upgraded with better spin controls thanks to the Motion Plus.  Nintendo has added a new 10 frame game with 100 pins.

POWER CRUISING - IE JetSki-ing.  Cool, fun to drive using nun-chuck and WiiMote, but doesn't have the same depth as say N64's WaveRace. VS is decent fun, and Slalom feels like it's too long, but then again I was racing around the island.  *shrugs*

CANOEING - Awesome!  Racing, just canoeing around the lake... all awesome.  Only thing wow is it tiring.  Fun having to really paddle as if it were a real canoe!

CYCLING - VS and Speed Challenge modes, both are ok. Odd thing is sometimes you steer and sometimes you don't.  Arms get really tired from peddling so much.

AIR SPORTS - This is another game that I have been playing quite a bit like archery.  VS Dogfights and Island Flyover and both lots of fun and another title where you get to see how accurate the Wii Motion Plus really is.  It's really cool to be able to fly around and see all the locations where each of these games are played.

Overall I am impressed with Wii Sports Resorts.  The depth of each game and the quality of the Wii Motion Plus is a pleasant suprise.  Another nice subtle addition is the fact that your stats are no longer strictly linked to a Mii.  So unlike Wii Sports you can delete your Mii and retain all your stats and pro status.  One complaint that I do have is that sometimes during play you have to "re-calibrate" the Motion Plus which is very easy, just press pause and lay the Wii Mote face down on a flast surface, but can be a bit distracting.  In a nutshell, if you liked Wii Sports you'll love Wii Sports Resort
