Yesterday, 9to5Mac was reporting that some users have received shipment notification for their free iPhone 4 Bumpers.  The free iPhone case program started this past Friday morning at which time I ordered mine via the App probably around noon.  I was given a shipment date of like September 1st or 2nd, which even though wasn't terrible since the Bumper is free, still sucked.

With that in mind I received a notification from Apple that my Bumper has in fact shipped and will arrive on August 2nd, 2010!  If you haven't already ordered your Bumper or alternate free case, don't delay, the program ends on September 30th.  However if you've gotten the iPhone 4 previous to July 23rd you only have until August 22nd to order your free case.  Hop to it!  Instructions are here.

If you are having problems with your iPhone 4 signal, Apple has launched a website where you can learn how to obtain the "bumper or case" as a work around for the antenna issue that some people with the iPhone 4 are experiencing.

Follow these steps to apply for a Bumper or case.

  1. Download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store.
  2. Launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account or Apple ID.
  3. Select your Bumper or case.

For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

You can find the website HERE.

ElementCASE Announces Vapor for iPhone 4 PDF Print E-mail

As many of you already know, I love my iPhone 4.  Not only is functionally great, the look of the iPhone 4 is just outstanding.  Problem is the iPhone is expensive and made of glass and I am sure that the time will come when I drop it.  Previous to the Vapor, my eyes were on the Apple Bumper since it doesn't completely hide the iPhone 4 design.

ElementCASE has recently announced a new line for the iPhone 4 that will blow you away.  Not only is the iPhone 4 protected, it's able to retain it's stylish looks.  Check out the photos and the press release below.  Can't wait to get my hands on this one.

Apple avoids iPhone 4 recall; offers free cases PDF Print E-mail

So instead of recalling all iPhone 4 phones to fix the internal antenna issue, Apple will be issuing cases for anyone that bought an iPhone 4.

During his presentation he worked hard to characterize the problem as a small one, affecting a minority of users, and answered calls from all across the media for Apple to provide a free iPhone case with the iPhone with a promise to deliver just that - free cases all round.

Jobs convincingly described the antenna problem as one that impacts the entire industry, not just Apple, "there is a challenge for the entire smartphone industry to improve its antenna technology so there are no weak spots," he said.

I don't use an iPhone, so I'll let Jason post something on this, but if I were an iPhone user, I wouldn't be happy with a new case on a phone I spent a lot of money on.  Personally, for my Android phone, I don't use a case because they are bulky and I like how my phone looks.

Also, my phone doesn't drop calls depending on how I hold it.  C'mon Steve Jobs...who you trying to fool?
