What a great couple of months!  I haven't seen this many great releases in a long while.  Been busy playing everything and will have full reviews in the next week or so, but I figured I'd give a quick update on what I have been playing and small mini review of each...

Modern Warfare 2 - Wow, having started playing the Call of Duty Series at #4 I was impressed at the gameplay and the amount of multiplayer fun there is.  Once I heard that Infinity Ward was creating a second version of their blockbuster Modern Warfare I was stoked!  After lots of hype and lots of of controversy the release of Modern Warfare 2 was spectacular selling 4.7 million copies in the first 24 hours, earning $310 million breaking many records.

The hype was very much worth it.  Currently been playing a lot of multiplayer (duh) and having a great time. Lots of great additions to multiplayer from added perks, added weapons, customizeable kill streak bonuses, and incredible amount of challenges to keep you begging for more.  Infinity Ward outdid themselves with the maps as each map is greatly detailed and excellent to play. Special Ops is fun as is the Campaign mode but honestly haven't played enough of either to pass judgement.  If you play FPS online and you like modern warfare, then Modern Warfare 2 is a must buy.  Plenty copies are available at stores so go get it today..

Left 4 Dead 2 - Another game that comes with controversy, L4D 2.  If you don't know what Left 4 Dead is, get your head out of your ass and go buy the original.  I, too be honest, hate zombie games as they are mindless shooting through ridiculous hordes of zombies.  Boring!!!  L4D raised the bar in zombie mayhem and have created the best zombie killing game I have ever played.  L4D had me and many of my friends, including my wife who doesn't play FPS, coming back for more many many late nights.

The Left 4 Dead 2 demo was released a few weeks ago for those who pre-ordered and offered a small glimpse into what The Parish campaign will have. Short and sweet and to the point, got you enough to beg, PLEAD, for more.  New Special infected including the Charger, Jockey and the roaming witch are the latest additions.  The Parish campain was excellent and showed what it will be like to kill hordes of infected during the daylight hours with new and exciting weaponry including a chainsaw!  L4D2 also has new modes included in the sequel with much more to come once I get my hands on my copy tonight at 12AM!

New Super Mario Bros.Wii - Another game that if you own a Nintendo Wii go out and buy it today, if you don't own a Wii, and miss old school Mario, then get off the couch and buy a Wii and New Super Mario Bros.Wii.  Release this past Sunday is a redo of the New Super Mario Bros from the DS, with all new maps and outfits.  The new Mario is a great throwback of the games we have all come to know and love but now packed with local multiplayer where up to 4 players can take control of Mario, Luigi, and 2 other Toad characters can play cooperatively to conquer the Bowser for taking Princess once again.  Graphics, gameplay, and nostalgic value are the main reasons to buy this game today.  Great times great fun.  New Super Mario Bros.Wii reminds me strongly of Super Mario Bros 3 but has elements of all the old games and new content as well.  GO BUY IT!

As you can see I have my work cut out for me.  So stay tuned for a bunch of reviewed good or bad from me for these great games as well as some others that have been recently released.  Time for me to head to Gamestop to secure my copy of L4D2.  Peace!

LittleBigPlanet PSP Coming in November PDF Print E-mail

Here's the word:

It’s official! On November 17th, 2009, you’ll be able to take Sackboy on a completely new adventure. LittleBigPlanet (PSP) hits the store shelves and now you’ll be able to Play, Create, Share…everywhere. (We know you know, but there may be others out there…)

Gonna be honest here.  I loved LittleBigPlanet on PS3, but not excited at all for a PSP version.  I only own 1 PSP, so I can't play with anyone else in my house....and that kills it for me.  I really would have liked to see them work on a 2nd game for PS3.

EA & Ultima Online Announce “Return to Britannia” Campaign PDF Print E-mail

I don't play Ultima Online anymore...but figured this would be a fun story to post.

FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mythic Entertainment™, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) studio, today announced the Return to Britannia Campaign in celebration of the 12-year anniversary of Ultima Online™ (UO). As part of the Return to Britannia Campaign, all former players are being welcomed back to UO, one of the longest-running MMORPGs in history, for unlimited free game play through October 16th. Closed accounts in good standing have been re-activated, and former players can log back into the game using their original user name and passwords.

New content available to returning players through the Return to Britannia Campaign includes Mondain’s Legacy, the 7th UO expansion which introduced the playable Elven race and dangerous, new dungeons to explore. Mondain’s Legacy was made available at no charge in August 2009 to existing subscribers and to new players as part of the Ultima Online 14-day free trial.

“We’re hoping that, as part of the Return to Britannia Campaign, former players will once again rediscover the joys of Ultima Online,” said Jeff Hickman, Executive Producer for Mythic Entertainment. “UO was the first love of many MMORPG players, and it still holds a special place in their hearts after 12 glorious years. I think returning players will be pleasantly surprised to find a thriving and vibrant community from around the world ready to welcome back their former compatriots and include them in their ongoing adventures.”

I still remember back to my high school years...when I first heard about Ultima Online.  I'd seen the box art of the game with the dragon and all the piles of gold...all of which could be mine.  I, however, resisted the temptation.  I believe I joined the game during the "2nd Age" expansion.  I upgraded my 28.8 modem to, I believe, a 56k modem.  I huge upgrade for me...actually..this was the first time I had ever taken the case off my Packard Bell computer.  That literally, was my first PC upgrade.

I remember running through the forests...chasing animals that I could kill...getting PK'd...ahhh..the memories.

Jason...how much did you play UO back in the day?  Time for us old timers (we aren't really old) to reminisce about the old days of gaming....

For those who actually want to play more UO...here is the rest of that announcement:

Players returning to Ultima Online through the Return to Britannia Campaign can download and install the UO client for free at: http://www.uoherald.com/trial/. Players who no longer have access to their Ultima Online username and password can retrieve their account information at: http://support.ea.com.
